Exquisite mid-century Italian sacred art piece, featuring a beautiful embossed copper plaque of the Madonna and Child by the renowned artist Aldo Bertagna (1920-1998), dating back to the 1970s.
This artwork is a magnificent example of post-war Italian devotion craftsmanship. The relief is meticulously crafted from a thin sheet of calandered copper using advanced embossing and chasing techniques. The background shows an elegant hand-hammered honeycomb texture that creates a striking interplay of light and shadow, enhanced by a professional burnished bronze patina.
The piece is authentically hand-signed "Bertagna" in the lower right corner of the metal plaque.
The presentation of this artwork significantly elevates its collectibility: it showcases a high-quality solid wood frame and a luxury tailored fabric passe-partout, typical of top-tier art gallery framing from the 1970s. The entire piece is fully protected by its original front glass, which has preserved the copper patina perfectly intact over the decades.
