Original oil on canvas by Italian painter Ilvo Macelloni, titled “Scena Campagnola”
A beautiful and atmospheric Italian countryside scene, depicting a rural road surrounded by trees, houses and figures, rendered in a particularly expressive and colorful manner.
The painting is distinguished by its luminous palette of turquoise, ochre, greens, warm earth tones and touches of coral, creating a lively and harmonious sense of light. The visible, confident brushwork gives the surface a rich painterly character, while the simplified forms and strong arrangement of color create an unmistakably atmospheric landscape.
The work is signed “I. Macelloni” in the lower left.
A particularly important feature of this painting is the original Certificate of Authenticity attached to the reverse of the canvas. The certificate was issued and personally signed by Ilvo Macelloni himself. In his own handwriting, the artist identifies the work as “Scena Campagnola,” specifies the technique as “Olio su Tela,” records the dimensions as 30 × 60 cm, and signs the document.
The printed certificate explicitly states that the artist guarantees the work as executed, approved and signed by him.
The painting was acquired in France, where it was found with its original artist-issued documentation still attached to the reverse.
Ilvo Macelloni was an Italian painter born in Rosignano Marittimo in 1936, who lived and worked in the Cintolese area of Monsummano Terme, Tuscany. Published biographical material places the beginning of his painting activity around 1970 and records his interest in landscapes, countryside scenes and still lifes, characterized by strong color and expressive brushwork.
This work is presented as a circa 1970s painting, consistent with the available biographical documentation and the characteristics of the work.
The combination of the original painting, the artist’s signature and the surviving handwritten Certificate of Authenticity personally signed by Macelloni makes this an unusually well-documented example of his work.
