The suspended chrome cube and central radica column support a luminous element that rises above the structure like a signal or beacon. The lamp is conceived as a small architectural sculpture where geometry and light coexist in balance.
CONCEPT
MA.IA 2001 is designed to be completed by the bulb chosen by its owner. The bulb can be changed at any time, allowing each collector to reinterpret the piece through light. The current bronzed bulb with warm spiral filament reflects the designer’s original vision, harmonizing with the tones of the radica wood and the chrome structure.
RESONANCE
MA.IA 2001, conceived in 2001 as a unique project, re-emerges today in collaboration with Al, as if its form and name had a voice of their own. An invisible dialogue between human and artificial thought.
The mirrored base reflects the lamp above, creating subtle visual layers that reward careful observation.

ARTIST NOTE
Diego Casella is an Italian artist born in Piacenza in 1954.
After the early loss of his young wife, herself a gifted artist, he left Italy and spent many years travelling and working across different countries.
During this long period of movement and reflection he continued to develop a deeply personal artistic language rooted in European painting traditions and symbolic imagery.
Today his work reflects a lifelong search for meaning, memory, and inner vision.
