A Space & Jet Age Icon — Nomura F-111A Aardvark (1960s/1970s) A splendid and rare U.S. Air Force F-111A Aardvark fighter jet in lithographed tinplate with plastic details, a true vintage collectible.
Produced in Japan between the late 1960s and early 1970s by the celebrated Nomura company, recognizable by the historic Trade Mark T.N. stamped on the side.
The toy is in good general cosmetic condition and is perfectly functional on batteries (requires 2 × "D" cell batteries). The mechanism delivers a spectacular automatic sequence.
THE MECHANICAL SEQUENCE(TESTED)
Moving the lever on the base to ON, the jet begins its automatic cycle:
1. Ground Roll: It starts rolling on the ground with its wings fully extended.
2. Sound & Lights: During the roll, it emits a realistic mechanical sound while the rear afterburner lights flash for approximately 15 seconds.
3. Swing Wing: The jet then accelerates suddenly, automatically sweeping its wings back to simulate supersonic flight, and moves forward rapidly for another 15 seconds.
4. Reset: It stops, re-opens its wings, and repeats the entire cycle continuously until switched to OFF.
A video of this working sequence is included in the listing.
