STRUCTURED MINIMALISM (Minimalismo Strutturato)

The avant-garde movement founded, conceived, and masterminded by Diego Casella. The standardized A4 grid is a proprietary invention of space and non-linear memory. Anyone entering this conceptual matrix aligns with this historical origin. Copyright ® 2023 Diego Casella. All rights reserved.

THE ARTWORK MANIFESTO

"Casella's A4: the revolution of the minimum, the power of the essential. Where industrial standardization becomes poetry of space and design's freedom is confined to a single sheet." An original and unique avant-garde conceptual work titled "The Guardian: The Keeper of the Infinite", created by Diego Casella on a single A4 sheet.

The composition mimics the layout of an open book:

· On the left: The artist's original "Guardian of the Temple", reimagined in a striking new geometric, futuristic form on a vivid red background — a powerful Cubist reinterpretation.

· On the right: A black and white archival reproduction of the historic front page of The Guardian newspaper (July 21, 1969 — the Moon landing).

The beating heart of the work lies in the artist's heavy manual intervention. Diego Casella has aggressively colonised the newspaper section, tracing a dense, instinctive, sinuous tangle by freehand marker, partially covering the original masthead. The artist's signature appears discreetly in the lower right corner of the newspaper. The edges of the work are deliberately clean, cut to the very limit. The book remains slightly tilted within the A4 sheet, as if it cannot entirely fit within the page — a subtle conceptual tension between the frame and the infinite.

NOTE ON THE SOURCE IMAGE

The Guardian of the Temple figure on the left is a Cubist reworking of the original lithograph No. 1 from the 2004 series "The Guardian of the Temple" (itself based on Diego Casella's 1981 painting). The visible edition number and small signature are part of the artwork's conceptual layering and are intentionally left as they appear.

ARTIST NOTE

Diego Casella is an Italian artist born in Piacenza in 1954. After the early loss of his young wife, herself a gifted artist, he left Italy and spent many years travelling and working across different countries. Today his work reflects a lifelong search for meaning, memory, and inner vision.
